Nightlife in Mérida: Noche Mexicana

Every Saturday night, the city Of Mérida presents singers, musicians, and dancers at the park on the south end of the Paseo de Montejo. It's free and is well attended by locals and tourists alike. In addition, there are artesans and their wares along the promenade. Vendors offer homemade tacos, tamales, and pies. We make a night of it every few weeks. One thing, if you go, the schedule says it starts at 7PM. Don't bet your pesos on it. It will be more like 7:30 or even 8 before the festivities begin. They make up for it by lasting well into the night; we have stayed until midnight and were never close to the end. When we arrive we like to sit back and watch the little children playing on the grass. They are a delight and will be a topic of a future page, I promise.
